How I Translate Emotions into Color

Color is my language when words are not enough. It speaks through motion, texture, and energy. Each time I begin a new piece, I listen inward before I even touch a brush. I feel for the tone of what is waiting to come through. Is it soft and reflective? Is it bold and urgent? Emotions do not always arrive in neat labels. Sometimes they appear as a vibration, a pulse, or a memory. My job is to meet them where they are and give them a form.

When I work with color, I do not choose it simply because it is pretty or popular. I choose it because it resonates. Blues and teals often carry calm. Reds and oranges bring warmth or intensity. Metallics offer light. Every hue has a frequency, and I match it to the story being told. I use swipe techniques to guide the flow of paint so the colors can blend, separate, and move in ways that mirror the emotion itself. It is not a forced process. It is an invitation to allow the energy to take shape.

Some days, I work with layered textures when feelings are complex or hidden. Other days, I let large open spaces breathe through the canvas when simplicity feels honest. The result may feel dreamlike, vibrant, or quiet. What matters most is that it feels true. My intention is not to interpret your feelings for you. It is to offer a mirror, a reflection in motion, where you can see yourself and feel seen in return.
